Swarm catching day

6/8/2012

Today was an eventful day, this afternoon it was very warm. It was 20 Celsius and sunny, I drove around some of the blueberry fields today. There are approximately 2500+ hives within a 5 minute drive from my place, they are pollinating blueberries. I have been watching them and some of them were overflowing with bees, so I placed a swarm box on the opposite side of the road and crossed my fingers.
I checked the swarm box this evening and BINGO, a wonderful hive was all over the box. I left it and went back home to gather my equipment to transfer the swarm. They were put into a hive and I placed the swarm box back to the capture location. With all the excitement I did not take any pictures, I will get some of the new hive tomorrow. Just like the saying " One persons loss is another persons gain" I can't wait to check tomorrow and see what is around tomorrow.
